From the author:

In my early years as a gardener, I would wrestle with garden weeds, waging what seemed like an impossible war against nature itself. I’d promise myself that I would finally get on top of it all and my garden would one day be weed-free.

Using a toxic weedkiller was never an option for me, so I finally stopped battling. I let go of the fantasy of a perfect carpet of velvety lawn and I downed tools.

Deciding to learn more, I began the first of many years of herbal study. I discovered with utter childlike joy that many of the weeds that kept popping up in my garden actually had incredible and much needed medicinal uses. Working with nature and the seasons, rather than trying to control and exploit my garden, has led me to a new respect for all those once problematic weeds. Living sustainably and in tune with nature is at the very heart of well-being. I hope this book will inspire you to see your garden and the plants around you with fresh eyes.

Here’s to embracing the weeds!
