ORIGIN: Ginkgo Biloba tree is one of the oldest living tree species on Earth, dating back over 200 million years. Known as a “living fossil,” ginkgo has deep roots in traditional Chinese medicine and has been used for thousands of years for its potential health benefits.
ABOUT: Ginkgo Biloba leaves are commonly ground and used as an active ingredient in dietary supplements. However, when brewed as a tea, the dried whole leaves offer a flavourful and healthful alternative that may provide similar benefits to capsules. The flavour profile is mild, earthy, slightly nutty.
BENEFITS: These leaves contain a complex mixture of bioactive compounds, including flavonoids, terpenoids, and phenolic acids. These components are known for their antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and other beneficial properties.
USES: Use on its own or with a sweetener. You can also crush the leaves and mix with other herbs like mint, lemon grass, moringa etc. for a more potent, caffeine-free herbal infusion.
BREWING: Allow 2- 3 flat teaspoons of dried leaves per cup (you can crush them slightly if you want). Pour hot but not boiling water (about 95°C) onto the leaves. Steep for 7 – 12 minutes. The brewing time and water temperature can be adjusted based on personal preferences.
