Psyllium husks have the advantage of being much gentler than some common fibre supplements (such as wheat or bran), many of which could irritate a sensitive bowel. Inulin is a fibre that is sourced from chicory root. Inulin is not broken down by the body – it is fermented by live bacteria in the gut to support the growth of live bacteria.
